Privacy Policy

Rooster · Last updated 14 August 2026

This policy explains what data the Rooster app collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

01

Who this covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Rooster mobile app for Android and the services behind it, operated by Otesc. It describes how we handle your information when you create an account and use Rooster and its mini-apps: Chat, Social, Cloud, Scout, Cadence, Tasks, Browser, and the AI Assistant.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app. If you have questions, contact us at otesc.co@gmail.com.

02

Information we collect

We collect the following information so the app can work:

  • Account email. The email address you use to create and sign in to your account.
  • Profile and handle. Your display name, handle, and any avatar or profile details you add.
  • Messages. Your chat messages. One-to-one messages are end-to-end encrypted, which means they are encrypted on your device and can only be read by you and the person you are messaging. We cannot read the contents of your end-to-end encrypted chats.
  • Media, photos, and videos. Files you send in chats, share on the Social side, or store in Cloud. Access to your camera and photo library is only used when you choose to attach or upload something.
  • Social posts and interactions. Posts you publish and actions such as likes, comments, and follows on the public Social side.
  • Approximate location. Used in two ways, and only when you ask for it. When you choose to add a location to a post, that location is saved with the post. When you tap "Find posts near me" in Social's Nearby search, your device sends a single approximate location so we can show you posts nearby; that one-off location is used for the search at that moment and is never stored. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Device push tokens. A token that lets us send you push notifications through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.
  • Basic device and usage data. Information such as app version, device type, and error logs that help us keep the app running and fix problems.
03

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and profile.
  • To deliver messages, calls, posts, and files between users.
  • To send push notifications for messages, calls, and activity.
  • To store the files you keep in Cloud and show them back to you.
  • To power search and discovery in Scout, reminders in Cadence, and lists in Tasks.
  • To show you public posts near you when you use Nearby search on the Social side.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
  • To respond to your requests, including account deletion.
04

End-to-end encryption

One-to-one chats in Rooster are end-to-end encrypted. The keys that unlock those messages stay on the devices of the people in the conversation. Because of this, we cannot read the contents of your end-to-end encrypted one-to-one messages. Other content, such as public Social posts, is not end-to-end encrypted because it is meant to be shown to others.

05

AI Assistant

Rooster includes an AI Assistant. When you choose to use it, the content you send to the assistant (for example, your question and any text you include) is sent to a third-party AI provider so it can generate a response. Do not share information with the assistant that you do not want processed by that provider. The assistant runs only when you invoke it.

06

Third parties and service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They only receive the data needed to provide their service:

  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Delivers push notifications to your device.
  • Google Play services. Supports app distribution and standard Android platform features.
  • AI provider. Processes content you send to the AI Assistant when you use it.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share the contents of your end-to-end encrypted one-to-one messages with these providers.

07

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your account record, profile, social posts and interactions, Cloud files, push tokens, and the encrypted message data held on our servers. Some records may be kept for a limited time where the law requires it or to prevent fraud and abuse, and copies in backups are purged on a rolling schedule of up to 90 days. Messages already delivered to other people remain on their devices and cannot be removed remotely.

08

Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access and update your profile details in the app.
  • Control what you post and who you interact with.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, including without signing in, from the account deletion page.

To make any privacy request, email us at otesc.co@gmail.com.

09

Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption for one-to-one chats. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if a problem occurs.

10

Children

Rooster is not intended for children under 13, and you must meet the minimum age required in your country to use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.

11

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
